Tuesday Tresses. Kourtney Kardashian Top Knot.

For this week's installment of Tuesday Tresses, I chose Kourtney Kardashian's topknot updo.

I love how this updo brings out the beautiful features on her face and makes her look that much more classy.

combat boots.

My combat boots. Nine West- Meatball.

I fell in love with combat boots sometime last fall, when I first started seeing women on the streets of New York with them on.

One of my most recent (and most worn) purchases has been a pair of Nine West combat boots. I searched for a long time before I found the perfect pair for me but, when I saw the "Meatball" shows on the Nine West website, I knew I had to have them!

I love that combat boots can be paired both with very casual outfits and even with more fancy outfits. I recently wore my pair of black leather combat boots with gray textured high-waist jeans from the GAP (my favorite store!) to a sports game. It was a great and comfortable pairing that was not only practical but, stylish as well. I loved going out and getting compliments on them. Even though the trend surge may be declining, I think that this will be a staple piece in my personal wardrobe for years to come.

Have you ever been inspired by street/military fashion? Do you have a pair of combat boots?

Natural Oils and Hair

Just the other day, while browsing online, I came across a tried and true favorite hair staple of mine.

Not only was it good for protecting my ends against harsh weather and rubbing up against clothing, it was also very effective in keeping my scalp and the length of my hair feeling moisturized. What is this staple you ask?

Coconut Oil.

I first learned about the benefits of coconut oil on the hair and skin on one of my favorite haircare forums.

Benefits Include:

-   High Moisture Retention Capacity  -
the use of coconut oil on the hair helps to seal in moisture since it is not easily broken down and does not evaporate easily.
-  Anti-Dandruff  -
the fatty acids present in coconut oil prevent dandruff from forming on the scalp and continued use may prevent dandruff trouble forever
-  Lauric Acid Antimicrobial Properties  -
a lot of times hair loss and scalp issues arise from bacterial growth and dead skin cells

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the brands that I am most looking forward to purchasing is ADARA'S Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It comes in a variety of subtle fragrances and is only $12 per bottle. Again, this product is all natural and can be used not only on the hair but on the skin as well, during harsh winter weather, to prevent dryness.
At a price like that-- what a steal!

Clarisonic--- so splurge or not to splurge?

As an avid watcher of QVC and Home Shopping Network, I have become aware of the popularity and buzz surrounding the Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System. It's been in all beauty magazines, on websites, on televsision, and takes home the award for Top Electronic Beauty must-have-item year after year.

I have been caught in between purchasing the Mia and the original sized brush for the longest time. Recently, I have seen a surge in the release of similar "sonic" cleansing products. I think that Clarisonic does it best however, as it remains a leading force in the beauty industry.

I am pretty sure that this will be a good investment for me, as I have been on the search for something to not only save me money on expensive facial moisturizers but, also enhance the power of the ones that I already use. Although the travel sized/smaller MIA only has one button and one speed choice, it comes in any array of different colors. (Actually--- so many that I can't even choose!)

Do you have a Clarisonic cleanser? I can't wait to get mine. Maybe I'll put it on my Christmas wishlist :)

Fashion for A Good Cause.

Today I am wearing this shirt! Although I purchased it sometime last winter, this was only my second time wearing it. I was immediately drawn to purchase this shirt after I heard that a large part of the proceeds would be used to fund releif efforts in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami disaster. I felt that this would not only be a great way to help out but, also, make a bold fashion statement.

High Fashion Fishtail Braid
Gretchen Jones at Spring 2012 Fashion Week

I don't like the way that the top part of her hair is styled but, I LOVE the loose fishtail braid! This is more of a casual look of course but, I love it for the fall!

What do you think about this look?

Tuesday Tresses - Historical Edition.

LUSTRIOUS WAVES AND FLIPS

FARAH FAWCETT (RIP).

Strapped Boots.

(Layla, Nine West & Giles Deacon. Fall 2011)

Boots with straps seem to be all the rage this FALL season.

I was first introduced to this trend about a month ago, when I spotted the newest shoe from Nine West, produced by the company in collaboration with Giles Deacon. Giles, a fashion designer from the UK, designed the beautiful boot, Layla, pictured above. I have noticed a lot of other boots following suit with the same strappy detail. Check the shoes out below:

Nail Polish Trends

After the explosion of crackle, shatter, fracture nail polishes on the market and now with the growing popularity of magnetic nail polishes, I am reminded of one of my favorite nail polish trends, MATTE.

I remember about a year ago, when I first started becoming interested in nail polish, there was a huge trend around matte nail polish. I love how pretty matte nail polishes look against my skin but, I dislike how much tipwear I get and the wear issues with matte polishes.

I think the best time to wear mattes are in the fall, when shiny cremes can be put away and flat, color blocked nails can be shown off.

What do you think of matte polishes? Have you found a way to extend the wear of mattes on your nails?
